Meet Dr. Gabriela “Gaby” Livas-Stein
Researcher
Dr. Gabriela Livas Stein is a licensed clinical psychologist and a Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. Broadly, her research seeks to understand cultural risk and resilience processes for minoritized youth and their families with a focus on Latinx families and youth. Using community-engaged research methods, she further explores ways to promote positive developmental outcomes—taking into account the unique kinds of stressors that youth and families experience, such as immigration, discrimination, or navigating multiple cultures.
Dr. Livas-Stein earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in child and family psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her clinical internship at the University of California, San Diego/VA Consortium and a postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University.
